Lalo

The most accurate way to describe Lalo – the best restaurant queso I have had. I know that this is a bold statement, but there is not much that can beat my Dad’s queso, and Lalo sure does come close.

My roommate and I found Lalo because 1. It is within walking distance from our apartment, and 2. they had amazing Cincinnati Taco Week deals. It was something like $12 for three tacos and a margarita – unbeatable.

Though I went for the tacos, the queso was the star of the meal. It tasted homemade, and not like generic queso which is probably why I liked it so much. We dove in with all of the homemade chips and enjoyed the margaritas and queso for a while.

I was completely full after the number of chips I ate but still ordered the three tacos anyway. I liked that the tacos were unconventional – brisket, pineapple, and mushroom tacos. It was different than a menu at a normal taco place, but the tastes were uniquely great. I do have to say, I was too full from all of the chips and queso that all I had was a bite of each taco, but I enjoyed them all.

The second time I went to Lalo, I only had the queso and a margarita for my meal. This time, I endured all of the add-ins into it. Cheese, chorizo, and jalapeños made the dip even better than before, and this one gives my Dad’s a run for his money.

If you’re in Cincinnati and you want some of the best queso, Lalo is the place to go. Now, I would recommend their menu as well because there is so much on there to be had, but I really can only speak on the queso. It has become my go-to place when I’m craving chips and dip. City Spritz Ranking – 4/10.
