Nada
Nada is one of the Cincinnati restaurants that I was sworn to not go to until my mom came to visit me. It was such a hit that after we had dinner there, she made a reservation for the next time she was visiting me.
I had heard amazing things about Nada, so it was on the top of my list to try. I was pleased with both of the meals I had, and so were the people I went with (mom and dad).
The first time at Nada was just my mom and me, and we fell in love with the Brussels sprouts and Street Corn. We started the meal with the queso, of course, and I ordered a spicy margarita. I must say, this is the first spicy margarita that I had that was actually very spicy. I loved the flavors and whatever their recipe contains is perfect. The queso was obviously delicious as well and it came with plantain chips which tasted very authentic.
Like every restaurant these days, Nada is a tapas plating size, so my mom and I ordered a few things to go along with our starters for dinner. We ordered the Crispy Brussels which had delicious chipotle honey, pickled red onion, and candied ancho pepitas – YUM. We also ordered the Street Corn which was chili mayo, cotija, lime, and cilantro.
Both of these sides were absolutely incredible and definitely a must-have when you dine at Nada. The flavors were simply amazing and so different than anything I had tasted before.
For the entrees, my mom ordered the Baja Tacos which looked delectable, and I ordered the Sweet Potato Cazuela – garlic fried rice, toasted peanut, and salsa macha. My meal was a “DIY” type deal where you could put everything together in a tortilla or just eat them all mixed together with a fork.
The flavors, once again, were unique and delicious. I loved the sweet potato mixed with the toasted peanut and it was such a great dish to try.
Somehow my mom and I obtained a free dessert – the Tres Leche cake with the usual toppings of raspberry, almonds, and whipped cream.
Like I said, the day after my mom and dined at Nada she made a reservation again for the next time she was going to visit. My dad was able to join us this time and he thought it was just as delicious as we did.
To begin the meal, I ordered the Sanguina Spritz. I don't know how I overlooked this drink the first time I went to Nada, but it had cava, Aperol, blood orange, and fresh citrus. It a great drink and went with my meal perfectly.
Of course, we had to order the queso, Crispy Brussels, and Street Corn for our meal. Once again, these were all delicious. I would say my favorite is the Street Corn because of how great the sweetness of the corn goes with the chipotle mayo, but the Brussels are an extremely close second.
My mom ordered the Enchilada Rojo with street corn, chicken, black beans, chihuahua cheese, and couscous for the dinner. Dad ordered the Chile Relleno which had charred jalapeno, chorizo, lime crema, shaved onion, and tomato frito sauce. I tried some of his and it was packed with amazing flavor, but seriously spicy.
I decided to order the Roasted Mushroom Taco – mushroom, asparagus succotash, and sweet corn puree. This was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and was delicious. I would definitely order these tacos again because they were loaded with flavor and just simply good.
We could not leave Nada without trying another dessert. We decided to try the Churros with cajeta caramel and abuelita chocolate to dip them in. These churros were fresh, warm, and delicious especially dipped in chocolate.
It’s not a “hot take” that Nada is a must-try when you’re deciding where to eat in Cincinnati. The food and flavors are incredible and you really cannot go wrong with whatever you decide to try. All of the food I have tried has been great and the atmosphere is always lively.
