One of my favorite weekend activities is discovering new bakeries and indulging in unique pastries, and my latest find, Bad Butter, did not disappoint! This Chicago-based bakery, owned by Dan the Baker, is known for its flaky croissants, indulgent sweet treats, and legendary chocolate chip cookies.
Since Bad Butter operates on a pre-order-only basis, you’ll need to place your order before the weekend to snag some of these highly sought-after baked goods before they sell out. Trust me, it’s worth the planning!
I couldn’t resist trying as many items as possible, and every bite was just as incredible as the last:
Honey Cruffin – Perfectly flaky and crunchy on the outside, with a buttery, sweet, and creamy filling inside.
Pain au Chocolat – A classic, but this one stood out with its ultra-flaky layers and rich, gooey chocolate filling.
Caramel Donut – Imagine a crème brûlée-style crunch on the outside with a silky vanilla cream filling inside.
Garlic and Asiago Monkey Bread – The ultimate savory breakfast treat with bold garlic and cheese flavors.
Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies – These came fresh from the oven, warm, gooey, and topped with sea salt for the perfect balance of sweet and savory.
Bad Butter truly lived up to its reputation, and I couldn’t have been happier with everything I ordered. From the cheesy, garlicky monkey bread to the perfectly flaky and chocolatey pastries, every item was a hit. The pre-order system ensures you get fresh, high-quality baked goods, and I’ll definitely be ordering again soon—especially for those unbelievably good chocolate chip cookies.
Looking to try Bad Butter? Be sure to check their website or Instagram for pre-order details and availability. If you’re a fan of artisanal pastries and small-batch baking, this spot is a must-try in Chicago!
