Barcocina

If you’re looking for a midweek dining spot with great vibes and even better drinks, Barcocina should be at the top of your list. Known for its lively atmosphere and delicious menu, Barcocina offers an irresistible deal on Tuesday nights—free margarita flights. With an excuse like that, I couldn’t resist heading out for a fun dinner during the week.

The evening began with the margarita flight, featuring a variety of flavors: Smokehouse (mezcal), spicy, house, and sweet margaritas. Each one had a unique twist, making it hard to pick a favorite.

A colorful margarita flight featuring four distinct flavors—Smokehouse (mezcal), spicy, house, and sweet.

To accompany our drinks, we ordered some classic chips and salsa, along with their signature guacamole topped with a balsamic glaze. The dips were exceptional, especially when paired with the fresh, homemade chips.

When it came to the main course, we couldn’t resist trying a variety of tacos. I opted for the Quesabirria tacos, which were loaded with braised short rib and cheese, served with a spicy au jus sauce that added the perfect kick. The rest of the group enjoyed the Bang Bang Shrimp and Braised Brisket tacos, which were packed with flavor.

Barcocina is a great spot whether you’re in the mood for a lively happy hour or a weekend dinner with friends. The vibrant atmosphere, paired with delicious food and drinks, makes it a standout spot in Chicago. Tuesday nights, with the free margarita flights and a menu full of tasty options, are especially worth checking out.
