Branch & Night Drop

Branch is a restaurant that I have been to a few times now. With a wide variety of food and drinks, Branch is a great place to try a bunch of different flavors.

One of the notable things about Branch is that it is in what used to be a bank, so there are different hints of bank items on their drink and food menus.

The first time Grace and I went to Branch, I ordered the Sauvignon Blanc and she got an Aperol Spritz. Both of these tasted great and were super refreshing for the middle of the summer.

We ordered the cheese board to start which had the best, unique flavors. There were pickled grapes and savory pears. All of the cheeses had a unique texture and flavor to them as well. Grace and I loved all of the flavors of food on the plate.

For our next plate, we ate the street corn which had an amazing aioli on it with corn, cheese, cilantro, and spices.

For some reason, Grace and I were both full after these two plates, but when I came back from the bathroom she said there was a dessert that we had to try. This dessert is not on the menu anymore, but it had a peanut butter creme with chocolate mousse and crispy crumbs on top with caramel. It tasted like a fancier Reese’s Cup.

The next time we went to Branch was to try the new items on the menu. Unfortunately without my knowing, on New Year’s Eve, they had a special menu that you had to order from — but of course, there were still some great options to choose from.

We started with cocktails — I ordered the Account Analysis which had Tanqueray Ten, Salers Aperitif, grapefruit, and Lillet Rose. My drink was delicious, but of course, Grace’s came in the prettier glass. She ordered the Lady Bird, Is That Your Given Name (these cocktail names were odd). This had gin, blackberry syrup, vermouth, lemon, and egg white.

The courses that we ordered are going to be difficult to order again because I believe most of it had been just for this specific meal.

For our appetizer, we both decided to order the same item that had Ahi tuna, egg, goat cheese, sun-dried tomato, and green beans on a bed of grains. This was delicious and all of the flavors complimented each other well.

Branch, Appetizer, Cincinnati, Ohio

For our main course, I ordered the Cod with fennel and it was pretty good. There was a light vinaigrette on top of the plate which gave it some great flavor. Grace ordered some type of mushroom risotto with cashew cheese.

After dinner, we decided to walk down into the Night Drop Bar area where we ordered a truly interesting drink. The bar had many different, unique drinks, but we went with what the bartender recommended.

Apologies that I don’t have the name of the drink, but it had whiskey and sweet potato in it with a toasted marshmallow on top. It tasted like pumpkin pie which was interesting, not my favorite flavor.

Overall, my experience at Branch has been great drinks and delicious food. I love all the different flavors and textures of food they put together because you can tell they work to perfect the menu. There are many different menu options that anyone would be able to find something perfect to drink or to eat.
