El Alma
To begin my short Austin food tour, I started with a yummy lunch at one of my friend’s favorite spots, El Alma.
We started with some margaritas of course, and I ordered the La Llorona which had ghost pepper tequila, prickly pear puree, and lime juice, agave.
One thing I loved about this restaurant is that they had complimentary chips and salsa which gives major points in my book. The chips were super good and the salsas tasted fresh.
We also decided to try the crab and cheese dip which was delicious. There was so much crab and the chips that came with it were great.
We were pretty full from all the chips but decided to order some tacos. I ordered the Shrimp al Pastor which had shrimp, pineapple slaw, avocado, and lime. This was delicious and I loved the pineapple slaw with the savory flavors from the rest of the taco.
El Alma was the perfect way to kick off my Austin trip. I loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious.
