Fast Track
One of my all-time favorite foods is a Chicago hot dog, so when Jacob told me that he has a go-to hot dog place by their apartment, I had to try it.
The best way to decide where to get your Chicago hot dog is if it looks like the stand or building has been there for 100 years, not in a bad way, but just has some nice character to it. I loved looking at the inside of Fast Track because it had paintings on the wall that gave it an old-timey feel.
Of course, I had to order the signature Chicago dog with all of the fixins on it with a side of fries. It was delicious and everything I wanted — a little bit of spice and all of the toppings were amazing.
Jack decided to order the Italian beef sandwich that he said was phenomenal. Lucy got a hot dog too.
While we were eating our meals, there was a man sitting at the table who looked like the guy who was in pictures all over the walls. Jack decided to ask him if those photos were him and he told us he was the owner of Fast Track.
After chatting for a bit, he told us that we absolutely had to try the breaded shrimp that’s on the menu. He gave us an order and we ate the delicious shrimp. It was surprisingly good, and something that I would have never thought to order at a hot dog place.
I love finding a classic hot dog place anywhere, but especially in Chicago. All of the food we tasted was great and it was extra special to meet the owner and hear his story as well.
