Gibsons Italia
To begin our Chicago food tour, my family started off real strong at Gibsons Italia. I knew we were at a fancy place because right when we sat down we were poured glasses of champagne.
This sold me right away — 1. because they gave us a complimentary pour, obviously, and 2. because it happened to be in a coupe glass.
For my actual drink with my meal, I thought I ordered an Aperol Spritz, but I think it was just labeled on the menu as “Spritz”. Not sure exactly what it was, but it was a refreshing twist on the usual Spritz I have.
For the main event, I had to order a steak because I have no self-control, and wow this steak was phenomenal. It had the perfect crust on the outside with such a tender inside. It also came with roasted garlic on the side which was delicious and something more steakhouses should be doing.
We ordered some of the Brussels sprouts to share at the table which had crispy prosciutto, red finger chili, truffle bourbon maple glaze, and Parmigiano Reggiano. These were delicious and a must-have for a side.
A little side note that needs attention is the beautiful Carrara Wagyu New York Strip that my sister’s boyfriend, Jacob, ordered and it was phenomenal.
For dessert, we decided to order an Espresso Martini which was the perfect item to cap off our meal.
Overall, Gibsons was such a flavorful meal and the atmosphere was set up great with the beginning of the meal starting with a champagne toast. I love little touches like that because it shows you that your meal and service is going to be great. This is a perfect meal for a special occasion!
