Girl & the Goat
One of the most anticipated restaurants that I have wanted to try in Chicago was the Girl & the Goat, and I finally got to eat there this past time I visited Lucy.
We started the meal with some delicious cocktails - I ordered the Ring of Fire with tequila, tarragon, pomegranate, jalapeño, ginger, and lime. I asked for it to be extra spicy and it was delicious. Lucy and Erin both ordered the Lychee cocktail with vodka, ginger, curaçao, lychee, and lemon.
We began by ordering the Olive Sourdough with whipped feta and a cherry tomato relish. This bread was warm and tasted fresh, and the whipped feta and relish were delicious toppings.
Next, we had the Raw Oysters with a watermelon radish mignonette, ponzu, and horseradish on top. I loved the flavors topped on these oysters — it was amazing.
Erin and I decided to split the Ora King Salmon Poke which was phenomenal. It came with strawberries, avocado, and chili crunch. The flavors and textures all together were delicious, and the chili crunch was the perfect topping.
The next dish was the Wood Oven Roasted Pig Face which was my favorite of the night. This dish came with a sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, and potato stir. The pig was phenomenal, and the red wine-maple sauce on top was just fantastic.
Our last item was the Chili Crunch Chicken with pickled kumquat, and rapini. Once again, I loved the chili crunch, and the chicken was delicious with a unique blackberry dressing. I also loved the noodles that came with it.
Somewhere in the middle of all of the food, we ordered some more cocktails. I ordered a sauvignon blanc, and Erin and Lucy ordered the Best of Three with vodka, Pimm’s, Peychaud’s, and lime.
Needless to say, Girl & the Goat lived up to my high expectations. It was the final “Goat Restaurant” that I needed to try and I loved it. There were many different options to choose from that I would love to go back and try some more dishes.
