Halls Chophouse
Halls Chophouse has to be one of the best meals I have had in my life.
A little backstory to how Bailey and I got to Halls: I tried to make reservations months before and they were booked up all the way through the holidays. I didn’t think too much of it until we met our new friends at the Darling Oyster Bar and they said it was essential to the food trip that we went on.
Our friends pulled a few strings and voila — we were able to grab a seat.
I have become a big fan of sitting at the bar at restaurants because you get to meet people and see an entirely different atmosphere than when you are at a private table.
We had to wait a little bit for a seat to open up, so we asked the bartender for an Aperol Spritz, of course.
It wasn’t too long until we were able to get a spot for dinner, and we began the meal with the Low Country Fried Green Tomatoes. They had crab, shrimp, and a bacon succotash on top of the tomatoes and it was phenomenal.
Per our friends we met earlier, we were told that we can’t leave without trying the Japanese A5 Wagyu Filet. I wish I could describe how delicious this steak was. It was all worth the hype (and money). It was so tender that we didn’t even need a knife.
I could go on and on about the steak, but all you need to know is that you need to try it because it was the highlight of our trip.
Of course, we had to try some sides with our meal. We ordered the Lobster Mac n Cheese and the Loaded Mashed Potatoes. Both of these were recommended to us and were so flavorful to accompany our steak.
Meanwhile, we asked our bartender to mock up a yummy tequila drink that still is a mystery of what the contents were. Regardless, it was great.
Halls Chophouse is a MUST in Charleston. It had an "old-timey” feel to it, and it was great to sit at the bar and meet more people. The food was definitely worth the wait and penny because it was a meal that I will talk about for a long time.
