Ikigai Sushi & Izakaya

While searching for a new sushi spot to try, Ikigai Sushi popped up on my list, so I decided to give it a try. This restaurant visit involved me trying items that I had never tried before which I enjoyed.

The first thing I had to order was the Gyoza with chicken and vegetables along with a delicious chili soy vinaigrette.

Courtesy of Yelp, I was able to order the Kaarage for free, and I was excited to try it. I have had kaarage before and did not love it, and I still feel the same. I always seem to get a weird piece of chicken in mine, so I am calling it off on trying it anymore.

Now the main event was to try some delicious seafood. The first piece I tried was the Unagi which is a barbecued freshwater eel on top of rice wrapped with seaweed. The eel was incredibly tender and buttery with a delicious sauce on top.

Up next was a recommendation from the waitress for the Chili Hotate Hand Roll with scallops, spicy crispy garlic, and cucumber. I loved this roll because the flavors were amazing. The texture of the scallops and the garlic were great together too.

Finally, I had to have the Mochi on the menu because it is always a favorite of mine. I tried the yuzu and green tea mochi which were great as expected.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Ikigai Sushi because I was able to try unique and flavorful items off the menu. The gyoza was delicious, and I loved the scallops hand roll.
