John's Food and Wine
John's Food and Wine in Chicago has been on my list since it opened, so I finally took a few friends to explore their food and wine offerings. We started our evening with a bottle of white wine recommended by our waiter. The wine, similar to a classic Sauvignon Blanc, was crisp and refreshing.
The first dish at our table was the Potato Focaccia with Strawberry and Tomato Butter. This dish was a standout, with the fluffy focaccia bread perfectly complemented by the unique flavors of the strawberry and tomato butter. It was an immediate hit.
Next, we indulged in the Lobster Salad, featuring chunks of lobster in a light green tomato gel with herbs. Another crowd favorite was the Stracciatella, served with fresh sourdough bread which was perfect for dipping into the creamy cheese.
For our main courses, we chose the Ricotta Gnocchi and Lamb Cavatelli. Both dishes were packed with flavor, but the gnocchi was the unanimous favorite at our table. The rich, creamy ricotta paired beautifully with the pasta and the saffron flavors.
One of the highlights of our visit to John's Food and Wine was the variety of the menu. Every dish we tried was filled with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. From the inventive appetizers to the hearty main courses, each bite was a delight.
