La Becasse
I am on vacation, so that means I will begin to highlight a new place. This one holds very true to my heart – Glen Arbor, Michigan. I will start with one of my favorites, La Becasse. This is a delicious French restaurant with my favorite dessert that I have ever tasted.
I love La Becasse for multiple reasons, but the main one being that I think this is the only place in or around Glen Arbor that has Aperol. I started my meal with an Aperol Spritz which was refreshing and delicious.
I have to preface that my family will eat mussels whenever we can get our hands on them. When my dad and I saw the mussels on the specials board, we absolutely had to order them. They were great and had vegetables and broth that were super good.
Every entrée comes with a salad, so instead of trying the house salad, I decided to upgrade to the kale salad which had kale, pepitas, toasted almonds, chives, red onion, goat cheese, and dried cherries with a truffle vinaigrette. This was one of the better kale salads that I have tried and all of the flavors went together perfectly.
For my entrée, I decided to order the special which was breaded cod with vegetables. This cod was super thick, but mild and was incredible. It came with some vegetables on top of mashed potatoes which added great flavors to the meal.
My parents also ordered some seafood – the crusted whitefish for my mom and the shrimp creole for my dad. Both of their entrées were just as good as mine, and I loved the grits that the shrimp came with.
I also ordered the mushroom risotto as a side for our meals which was super creamy and the flavor was great.
Now, for the best part of the meal – dessert. I wish that I could describe how phenomenal this warm chocolate cake is, but nothing will ever do it justice.
This cake is described as a chocolate cake with a warm molten center wrapped in buttery phyllo and served with vanilla ice cream and bittersweet chocolate sauce. Everything about this cake is the best thing I have ever tasted, and that is really all I can say. It is a must-try.
This deserves another photo to show the inside of the cake.
Now, I am positive that all of the desserts at La Becasse are amazing, but I can’t ever stray from my favorite. My dad, on the other hand, wanted to try the chocolate mousse from the specials menu and it was fantastic.
La Becasse is one of the better dining options around Glen Arbor. It has been a favorite for me ever since I tried the warm chocolate cake, and the food is great as well. I love the different drink and food options, and I have always loved the “farm to table” menu.
