Monteverde
Scoring a reservation at Monteverde is no easy feat—it's one of the more sought-after restaurants in Chicago. So when a Resy alert popped up for a dinner slot, it was finally the perfect opportunity to experience their renowned Italian menu.
To kick off the meal, we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco, the perfect bubbly companion to an indulgent Italian feast. But the true stars of the night were the appetizers.
We ordered the Wagyu Beef Skewers, Arancini, and Octopus—each dish was a standout, but the Wagyu skewers stole the show. The beef was incredibly tender, bursting with rich, savory flavors that set the bar high for the rest of the meal.
Monteverde is known for its house-made pasta, so we had to try a few signature dishes:
Chitarra alla Boscaiola – A combination of prosciutto and porcini ragù, pecorino, artichoke, and crispy chicken skin. The crispy chicken skin added a satisfying crunch to the sweet and savory flavors. (My personal favorite!)
Tortellini in Brodo – Duck and prosciutto-filled tortellini in a flavorful broth with cabbage, Parmigiano, and Lambrusco.
Meatball Ravioli – February’s special, featuring ravioli stuffed with meatball filling, bringing a fresh twist to a classic Italian favorite.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Butterscotch Budino—a pudding topped with butter pecan toffee, whipped mascarpone, and brûléed sugar. A rich, satisfying way to end an already incredible meal.

Monteverde’s menu delivers bold flavors and a lively atmosphere, making it one of Chicago’s most popular Italian restaurants. The appetizers were a highlight, and the Chitarra alla Boscaiola was the dish that stole the show.
