Ramen-San
With Chicago’s temperatures dropping, it felt like the perfect time to try ramen, the universally loved comfort food. After some recommendations, I made my way to Ramen-San, a cozy restaurant that blends classic flavors with a modern vibe.
One of the standout features of Ramen-San is its diverse menu that offers more than just ramen. To kick off my meal, I ordered the crab rangoon and pork belly bao bun. Both appetizers were perfectly prepared—crispy, flavorful, and an excellent start to the dining experience.
For my ramen, I went with the waiter’s recommendation: the 10 Hour Tonkotsu. This dish features a rich and creamy pork broth, green onion, tender pork belly, seaweed, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, fried garlic, and sesame seeds.
Every element of the bowl added something special—the savory broth was packed with flavor, the noodles had the perfect texture, and the pork belly melted in my mouth. The fried garlic and sesame seeds brought texture and a subtle nuttiness that tied everything together.
While ramen was the main draw, I was pleasantly surprised by Ramen-San’s other menu options. The appetizers alone are worth the visit, and the creative twists on traditional Japanese flavors elevate the entire dining experience.
Whether you’re a first-time ramen eater like me or a seasoned fan, Ramen-San offers something for everyone. From the hearty, flavor-packed ramen bowls to the delectable appetizers, every dish is delicious. It’s the perfect spot to warm up and enjoy incredible food during Chicago’s cold months.
