Salazar
I was due for a visit to Salazar and once I saw they had their summer menu out, I knew it was time to go. I started my meal with the bartender's recommendation of the Agua Fresca with mezcal, lime, hibiscus, and chili pepper. This cocktail was one of my favorites with the perfect mix of spicy and fruity flavors.
For one of my starters, I had to try the feature of the night - whipped goat cheese, prosciutto, and baby squash blossoms with figs, grilled peaches, and aged balsamic. I had never tried stuffed squash blossoms and wow this dish was incredibly flavorful and tasted like summer.
I also wanted to try the Little Fried Oyster Sandwich with kimchi, radish sprouts, and garlic mayo. This sandwich was fantastic. I loved the flavor of the kimchi and the oyster was breaded and delicious.
For my main course, I tried the Crispy Skin Branzino with harissa roasted carrots, turmeric pickled cauliflower, and chermoula sauce. This dish was phenomenal with the perfectly cooked vegetables and the flavorful sauces.
I don't know what came over me, but I decided to order a dessert wine with my dessert. I now realize that I should never order dessert wine because I don't like the flavor at all. Regardless, the flavor actually did go well with my Warm Cookie and Strawberry Balsamic Ice Cream dessert. This dish was classic and delicious.
The Salazar summer menu is absolutely perfect with many different flavors to try. I loved all of the items I tasted and can't wait to go back to try more.
