Somerset

Somerset was the perfect brunch spot to begin our day in Chicago. Like any brunch spot, it was super crowded and had a good atmosphere to enjoy our meal.

Lucy and I started the meal with a Bellini and my mom began with a cappuccino.

We had to order the Skillet Cinnamon Roll which had a cream cheese glaze. You can’t ever go wrong with a cinnamon roll, and this one was just to my liking.

For my main meal, I decided to try something I had never tried before — Short Rib Shakshuka. This dish had spiced tomato sauce, baked eggs, feta, and toasted sourdough. The tomato sauce had a very interesting flavor, but I loved the mix of feta, eggs, and tomato with the sourdough bread.

Lucy ordered the Avocado Toast with smoked honey and whipped ricotta, and my mom ordered the Somerset Breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, and toast.

Since it was a later brunch, Lucy and I decided to order some Prosecco for her and Whispering Angel Rosè for me.

Somerset was a delicious brunch option for our day because there were tons of food items to try. I’m happy that I went out of my comfort zone to try something new. The cinnamon bun was delicious, and I loved to drinks on the menu too.
