Sushi by Bou

Sushi by Bou was my first Omakase experience and it truly did not disappoint. I loved all the extraordinary menu items, and all the flavors blended perfectly. I wrote notes of my initial thoughts on the 12-course menu along with my favorite flavors I tried.

  1. Hamachi: the fish tasted fresh and was the main flavor profile of this roll.

  2. Akami: fresh tuna with a dollop of wasabi which was an overpowering flavor.

  3. Botan Ebi: the prawn was good, but didn't have too much taste; this roll was more of a texture than a strong flavor.

  4. Ikura: the salmon roe was more bitter than I expected which took over the flavors.

  5. Bincho: the torched temperature and the fresh fish tasted marvelous.

  6. Maguro: super wasabi-forward and the tuna was chopped on top making a different texture experience. I loved the warm temperature of this roll.

  7. Hotate: I loved the texture and flavor of the scallop, the charcoal sauce was incredible, and the crunch on top was a great addition.

  8. Gindara: I loved the hand roll aspect, it had a super hot temperature, and the flavors were delicious.

  9. Toro: My favorite tuna roll because this did not have a strong wasabi flavor, the truffle on this was an amazing touch.

  10. Sake: The flavor was citrusy from the spicy yuzu sauce which paired great with the salmon.

  11. Wagyuni: The beef was a great mix-up to the courses, and sea urchin was a unique flavor.

  12. Unagi: My favorite dish of the meal because I love BBQ eel. This was sweet from the BBQ and the eel was buttery and tender.

As the final course concluded, I was offered the chance to taste any of the 12 courses in a hand roll. Without hesitation, I opted for the Toro, as a tuna lover I had to try this roll again because of the initial bursts of unique flavor.

No dining experience would be complete without a sweet finale. Sushi by Bou's mochi offerings exceeded all expectations, with passion fruit, vanilla, salted caramel, and chocolate chip flavors being the perfect end to my meal.

Assortment of colorful mochi desserts including passion fruit, vanilla, salted caramel, and chocolate chip flavors, served on a plate.

Despite dining solo, the intimate atmosphere of Sushi by Bou surrounded me with hospitality. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and creativity, showcasing a delightful mix of flavors and textures. I loved trying an Omakase menu for the first time because it makes for a unique dining experience. All the fish tasted fresh, and the flavors tied together perfectly.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Not that this isn't obvious, but I am not a professional writer - I don't claim to be one either. Cut me some slack on my writing for a little bit. It will get better!
