Sushi Dokku
I had friends in town which means that we are trying a new sushi spot in Chicago. Nestled in the Booze Box, Sushi Dokku offers not only exceptional sushi but also an enjoyable speakeasy atmosphere that adds to the dining experience.
We started with cocktails - some espresso martinis, and the Somethin' Spicy with Thai chili-infused mezcal and lime. I loved the spicy cocktail because it had some actual kick to it!

For appetizers, we couldn't resist the Pork Dumplings, cooked to perfection with delicious flavor. We also tasted the Okonomiyaki, a Japanese Pancake topped with green onion, Japanese mayo, Katsu sauce, and Bonito flakes. Its rich flavor made it a standout addition to our meal.

Moving on to the main course, the Mini Filet with Japanese whipped potatoes, mushrooms, teriyaki, and wasabi butter stole the show with its incredible flavor and was the perfect accompaniment to sushi.

We also ordered some sushi rolls to try, and the combination of sauces, spices, and fresh seafood was perfect. We ordered:
Godzilla with shrimp tempura, smelt roe, avocado, cream cheese, mayo, wasabi mayo, eel sauce, sriracha, sesame seeds, and green onion.
Hot Daisy with tuna, smelt roe, cucumber, soy paper, spicy mayo, lime, togarashi, and sesame seeds.
Crispy Manguro with tuna, avocado, fried shallots, red onion, fire mayo, and tuna flakes with a spicy soy vinaigrette.

To cap off the meal, we all decided to order more espresso martinis which tasted delicious per usual.

Sushi Dokku truly stands out as an exceptional restaurant, offering a wide selection of sushi rolls alongside other dishes bursting with incredible flavor. Whether seated in the intimate Booze Box or elsewhere, the ambiance adds an extra layer of charm to an already amazing dining experience.
