The Drifter
Chicago seems to have a large amount of cocktail bars, specifically speakeasy bars which is always a fun weekend place to try. The Drifter was a speakeasy in the back of a pub and was a tad difficult to find. Once we made our way behind the bookcase, we were transported back in time.
The server gave us some tarot cards with the cocktails of the night on them which was a unique touch.
I decided to order the Juan to Juan with Ancho Eyes, Vida Mezcal, lemon juice, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters. The rest of the table ordered the Dingo Stole My Baby with blanco tequila, Giffard Banane, grapefruit, and jalapeño soda. I loved my mezcal cocktail because it was all of the classic flavors that go super well together.
The Drifter also had entertainment every 45 minutes, so we were able to watch a dancing performance and a piano show. It was a nice touch to give the atmosphere an old-timey feel.
