The Hamilton
My obsession with Hamilton the Musical was validated when I found that there is a bar in Cincinnati based on Alexander Hamilton.
The Hamilton has been on my “places to visit” list since I had heard about it months ago, and I finally got to try it out.
Being new to this city, there are many areas that I have not been near before, and The Hamilton is located in a place that was new to me. As my friend and I walked into the bar, it was obvious that we were a bit out of place, but we popped down at a table and went on with our dinner.
I ordered one of the specialty cocktails called The Kyle – this was very fitting considering that my mom loves Hamilton and her name is Kyle. I ordered the drink without knowing what was in it, and although I didn't love it, the presentation was pretty and “old” style. We also got a glass of wine after our meals, which you can never go wrong with a glass of rosè.
One of my favorite things about this restaurant is that the menu is basically just appetizers – which I actually appreciate.
I love having bread and cheese for a meal, and The Hamilton delivered. We ordered the warm goat cheese dip with roasted garlic and tomatoes with crostini. This cheese dip was delicious, and when we ran out of bread we gladly just started eating the rest with our forks. We also got one of the flatbreads that were tasty as well –it had jalapeños, bacon, tomatoes, and cheese.
Overall, I’m happy that I was finally able to dine at The Hamilton and I would go back just to get the warm goat cheese dip again. It was a bit out of the way for me to go, but I’m happy that I got to see another side of Cincinnati that I hadn’t been to before.
City Spritz Ranking – 4/10.
