The Times Bar and Coffee Shop
There’s something about Asheville and cocktail bars because they were all over the place. The Times Bar and Coffee Shop was an old-timey bar vibe and had the most unique cocktails I had ever tasted.
When I say the drinks were unique, I mean it. We asked the bartender for his recommendation on what to order because all of the drinks were odd.
For our first drink, I ordered the Easier Told Than Saddled and Rode which had tequila, horseradish, white chocolate, vanilla, lime, egg white, absinthe spritz, and nutmeg. Now, I had my reservations about this drink being that there was horseradish in it, but it was incredible. It almost had a creamy texture and the flavor with the white chocolate was great.
Bailey ordered the None for Gretchen Wieners drink which had vodka, aquavit, lemon strawberry-rhubarb shrub, angostura, orange bitters, and becherovka spritz. Many of those words I can’t even pronounce, but her drink was delicious as well.
For our second round of drinks, we took recommendations from the waiter again and it did not disappoint.
Bailey ordered the Gin Fizz Tropical which had gin, almond orgeat, lime, pineapple, egg white, and sparkling water. I ordered the Naked & Famous drink which had tequila, Aperol, yellow chartreuse, and lime. Once again, I had my doubts that this drink would taste good, but it was fantastic.
The Times Bar and Coffee Shop is a bar that provides such a great experience through its cocktails. The bartender was great at giving us recommendations and making us go out of our comfort zone. I loved my experience there and would go again to try some more unique cocktails.
