The Wódka Bar
The Wódka Bar has some of the best drinks of any place in Cincinnati. It has always intrigued me because of the unique décor and name, so it was a must-try over the weekend.
Bailey and I went to the Wódka Bar a few summers ago, and we have been talking about how good the cocktails were ever since. We popped into the restaurant on Friday night – which was super busy, but we decided the wait would be worth it.
Grace and Bailey ordered the most popular drink there – the Hi-Rent Fizz which had hibiscus, rose petal, and red currant infused wódka, lemon, rosemary, and soda.
Since I had already tried the Hi-Rent Fizz before, I decided to try the house vodka flight. One thing to note is that the bar infuses all of its own vodka, which is why the drinks taste so good.
The flight tastes of Dill, Caraway Lemon, Sea Buckthorn, and Honey Pepper.
The Dill vodka tasted like vodka with pickle juice in it. This was actually good to taste because the pickle flavor outshined the vodka. The Caraway Lemon tasted just like a lemon or citrus vodka. The Sea Buckthorn was my favorite because it had a fruitier flavor to mask the vodka. Lastly, the Honey Pepper was interesting because it originally tasted like spicy pepper and then gradually changed to soothing honey.
For a little snack to accompany the drinks, we ordered the pierogi. Two of them with just potato inside and the other one had potato and bacon. Pierogis are an odd concept, but it still was delicious and went well with the drinks.
The Wódka Bar is such a fun place to go to in Over the Rhine because of the fun drinks and great atmosphere. It gives off a Gatsby vibe and plays classical music all night. I will be going back to try more of the drinks and venture out of my food comfort zone.
