Trastevere Food Tour
One of my favorite things that we decided to do was a food tour in the Trastevere neighborhood. This was a really fun and authentic way to try a bunch of different wines, food, and hot spots in that specific area.
We started the tour at La Norcineria and tried some Parmigiano-Reggiano, porchetta, and red wine. All of these were delicious and the perfect little bites before a meal. I loved the flavor of the porchetta and learning all about how everything was made.
Our next stop was for some traditional suppli at Suppli Roma. This was the traditional way suppli is usually served with a red sauce and mozzarella cheese in the middle. They baked these fresh for our arrival, so it was super hot and melty.
The next stop was pizza at Sesamo and we tried a potato pizza, a traditional Margherita, and one with some ham on it. These pizzas were delicious and I loved trying the different flavors they had. We also enjoyed a Peroni while munching on the pizza which I had never had before.
For the pasta portion of the meal, we ate at 404 Name Not Found and had some delicious Cacio e Pepe and some type of Bolognese I believe. These plates of pasta were phenomenal and I loved being able to try both of them. We also enjoyed a glass of wine with our food.
For some after-dinner drinks, our guide took us to this amazing restaurant called Ristorante Spirito Di Vino. This was a funny experience because one of the owners in the family came and spoke to us a lot and we got to sip on some delicious wine. The restaurant also gave us some food to munch on which tasted kind of like a pot roast.
The last stop had to be at a gelato shop, of course. I ordered Italian creme and chocolate gelato at Fiordiluna and it was delicious.
This food tour was such a blast because we got to try a bunch of different items and places throughout the Trastevere neighborhood. It was fun to meet the other people in our group who were from all over the world. I would definitely recommend doing a food tour of some sort to offset the usual dinner that you would have had all trip!
