Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar
Chicago’s sushi scene is packed with incredible options, and I’m always on the lookout for my next favorite spot. This time, I checked out Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar. With a diverse menu featuring both Japanese BBQ and sushi, this restaurant offers something for every craving.
We kicked off the meal with a standout from the barbeque bar—the Pork Ribs. Glazed in a rich gochujang sauce and topped with crispy shallots, these ribs were unbelievably tender, balancing sweet, spicy, and smoky flavors. If you're visiting, these are a must-order!
Next up, we had the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, which is always a favorite of mine. The spicy tuna was packed with flavor, while the crispy rice added the perfect crunch.
For our sushi course, we ordered a variety of signature rolls:
Hotate Volcano Roll – Spicy scallop, shrimp, masago, scallion, spicy mayo, cucumber, unagi sauce, tempura flakes, and black rice.
Dragon Roll – Unagi, shrimp tempura, avocado, and kanikama.
Andersonville Roll – Shrimp tempura, cucumber, kanikama, cream cheese, unagi, avocado, and brown sauce.
Spider Roll – Soft shell crab, avocado, and cucumber.
